My first ever coding project was a game I made in highschool using Game Maker 2. I liked video games, so I tried coding one. Needless to say, it's not the best individual game project out there. The mechanics were simple, the art looks like a five-year-old genius made it, however I'm still proud of it. I came in not knowing anything about coding, and came out knowing how to google for help with coding (and also wanting to code more).
This was my first experience working in a group to develop a catalog application, where the user can see available games within a catalog and request to add/remove games in that catalog as well as comment on the available games. Other functions include sorting the games by price, name, release data and there are also filter options as well. I was in charge of the frontend UI design and testing in the team. This project taught me about product iterations, engaging with customer requests and communication within teamwork.
My finals sophomore project involved working with Mapquest API to get the directions from point A to point B, afterwards the results are saved to my own database, where the user can choose to see the history of requests made on a certain date. This finals project has taught me how to communicate with a database using ajax, host a website on the AWS server, and also to always double check the links included in the header section (because bootstrap can't work if no one invited it to the party).
